science, we’re in. Are you? About the Role: The Director, EHS
(Environmental, Health, and Safety) is a senior-level role
responsible for creating and implementing programs that ensure
workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental
protection for all Insmed locations. Key duties include risk
assessment, developing safety policies, managing training programs,
and ensuring compliance with regulations like OSHA, EPA, and other
federal, state and local regulations. The Director will work with
leadership and company employees to foster a culture of safety
throughout the organization. What You'll Do: As Insmed's Director
of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), the individual will
lead the development, implementation, and management of a
company-wide EH&S program that encompasses both lab operations
and office environments. This critical leadership role will set the
strategic direction for EH&S, ensuring compliance with
applicable regulations while fostering a proactive, safety-first
culture across all Insmed locations and functions. The position
will be responsible for minimizing risk to employees, visitors
within operational lab assets or in office settings. This includes
shaping policies, guiding training efforts, and building
operational controls across project development, construction,
commissioning, research and asset operations, and workplace safety.
This position will advise the Executive Director, Facilities on all
aspects of EH&S compliance, performance, and provide direction
for improvement including EH&S design considerations; EH&S
compliance; and overall EHS performance and compliance. This
position will also work with staff to provide in-depth regulatory
expertise, robust interpretation, clear guidance and employee
education regarding a wide variety of applicable EH&S
regulations Core responsibilities Develop, implement, and oversee
EH&S programs, policies, and procedures to protect employees
and the environment. Identify and assess workplace risks, including
those associated with hazardous materials and industrial processes,
and develop strategies to mitigate them. Ensure the organization
complies with all local, state, and federal environmental, health,
and safety regulations. This includes staying current with changes
to laws and requirements. Identify safety training needs and
develop and coordinate training programs for employees. Develop and
manage emergency response plans and investigate accidents and
environmental incidents. Conduct and manage internal and external
EH&S audits and surveys, analyze results, and provide reports
to senior management and other stakeholders. Advise senior leaders
on EH&S performance and improvement strategies, drive EHS
initiatives, and manage EH&S staff. Build and maintain EH&S
management systems, including documentation, standard operating
procedures (SOPs), risk assessments, incident investigation
protocols, reporting and emergency response plans. Design and
deliver EH&S training programs for internal teams and
contractors to foster a proactive safety culture, including
responsibility for orientations and maintaining compliance records.
Oversee and promote (EHS) practices within Insmed's office
environment, including ergonomics, emergency preparedness, and
workplace safety programs, to ensure a healthy, safe, and compliant
workplace for all employees. Chair and Lead Quarterly Safety
Committee meetings at each lab as well as Monthly Safety Circle
Meetings with Lab and Facilities teams to reinforce a proactive
safety culture and ensure alignment on current risks, controls, and
lessons learned. Establish a comprehensive EH&S vision, policy
framework, and long-term roadmap aligned with Insmed's operational
goals and risk profile, including periodic program reviews and
updates in accordance with OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and all other federal,
state, and local standards. Partner with Facilities and Lab teams
to oversee EH&S plans across all phases of any project
execution. Providing guidance and direction to Senior staff
regarding EH&S requirements and performance such as EHS design
considerations, compliance training, environmental compliance,
health and safety compliance, and audit performance and compliance.
Providing oversight of the implementation of EH&S programs
within the various Insmed teams. Acting as the primary Insmed
liaison for EH&S matters with outside agencies. Acting as the
primary EH&S regulatory expert for Insmed. Monitoring proposed
EH&S regulations and legislation and solicits, develops. and
coordinates comments on such proposals. Staying abreast of
regulatory changes and informs affected staff, ensuring changes are
properly integrated into existing Insmed practices or develops new
ones to address changes (this may require development and
communication of implementation plans). Responsible for Insmed-wide
training programs, particularly those related to EHS compliance.
Providing onsite training and developing computer-based training
modules and ensures oversight of training employees and consultants
for instruction in subjects relating to health and safety and
regulatory compliance (laws, regulations, requirements). Ensuring
the proper execution of all aspects of the program. Acting as the
primary EH&S representative for Insmed; representing the
company at various meetings with relevant regulatory authorities.
Who You Are: Qualifications and skills 10 years of progressive
EH&S experience, ideally in pharma, energy, or chemical
industries. Deep understanding of EH&S regulations and best
practices related to chemistry and biology labs as well as pharma
manufacturing sites. Proven track record of developing and leading
EH&S programs at scale. Ability to work cross-functionally and
influence without authority. Strong verbal and written
communication skills; able to train and motivate diverse teams.
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science,
Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as
CSP, SST, CIH, OSHA 30, OSHA 500/501, and OSHA 62 are preferred.
Willingness to travel to lab and project sites as needed (San
Diego, New Hampshire, etc) Strong and demonstratable leadership,
communication, and interpersonal skills are critical for
interacting with employees, management, and external agencies.
Prior experience working with or establishing EHS Management
Systems Proficiency with commercial software products including
Microsoft (MS) Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint
Supervisory and team management skills including the ability to
effectively evaluate and coach subordinate staff Superior and
proven ability to independently research technical information and
regulations and provide fact-based, supported interpretations.
LI-JT1 LI-Onsite Pay Range: $171,000.00-239,667.00 Annual Life at
