Job Description:

The Physical Therapy Assistant provides direct patient care in inpatient and/or outpatient areas of BronxCare managing patients with physical disability due to illness or injury. Under direct supervision of the Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapy Assistant implements individualized treatment plans, administers physical therapy treatments to relieve pain and improve patients' mobility, and provides education to patient, family, and caregivers. Under direct supervision of Physical Therapist, the PTA will establish objective measurable goals based on evaluation of patient, referring doctor's input and patient and/or family member goals. Under the direct supervision of a Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapy Assistant will carry out and oversee a treatment plan based on goals, including an estimate of time necessary to achieve goals. Under direct supervision of the Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapy Assistant will Implement treatment and document each treatment according to established guidelines in the medical record. Modify goals and/or treatment according to patient's needs and in concurrence with physician. Recommend to Physical Therapist that treatment be discontinued when there are no longer any realistic, objective, measurable goals, or if goals are unattainable. Document in chart all goals, measures and milestones that each patient achieves, and review with Physical Therapist. Assist/attend in staff in-service program. Participate in multidisciplinary care team. Required Experience: 0-2 years of experience in direct care as a physical therapy assistant in the last 10 years Education Requirements: Associate Degree RequiredLicensed by NYS as a Physical Therapy Assistant Completion of a two-year Physical Therapy Assistant program that meets NYS requirements Employment Type: Full Time Years Experience: 1 - 3 years Salary: $62,580 - $65,240 Annual Bonus/Commission: No
