Brotherhood Sister Sol (BroSis): The Brotherhood Sister Sol
(BroSis) is a social justice youth development organization that
since 1995 has been a place where Black and Latinx youth claim the
power of their history, identity, and community to build the future
they want to see. By educating, organizing, and training, we
challenge inequity and create opportunity for all. BroSis provides
holistic and long-term support services to youth between the ages
of eight and twenty-two. BroSis offers wrap-around evidence-based
programming such as four-six year rites of passage programming,
thorough five-day-a-week after-school care, school and home
counseling, summer camps, job training, college preparation,
employment opportunities, community organizing training, and
month-long international study programs to Africa and Latin
America. Based in Harlem, NY, but with a national reach, we publish
assorted curricula and collections of our members writings; train
educators nationwide on our approach; and organize and advocate for
social change. BroSis has earned national recognition for our
evidence-based model, receiving an array of awards and funding from
a host of national funders, including Marlene Nathan Meyerson
Foundation, Charles Hayden Foundation, Cabrini Health Foundation,
Kraft Heinz, New York Community Trust, Comic Relief/Red Nose Day,
Trinity Church, William Stamps Farish Foundation, and more. The
organization has over 50 full-time staff, serves thousands
throughout New York City, and has a $11 million dollar operating
budget. In addition, we have moved into our new building - a 22,000
square foot state-of-the-art beacon for youth development. It is an
exciting period of organizational growth and increased impact in
our community and beyond. Schedule: Monday - Friday 3:00pm - 7:00pm
POSITION SUMMARY: The part-time CAP facilitator position is an
excellent opportunity for an individual passionate about youth
development and educational equity. Working in collaboration with
our College, Careers and Wellness (CCW) team, the CAP facilitator
will play a critical role in supporting BroSis members through the
college application process, assisting with young alumni
engagement, and facilitating key events. The ideal candidate is
engaging, thrives in a collaborative, active environment, and is
looking to enhance their skills in youth development, program
support, and administration. This position reports to the College
Coordinator on the CCW team. RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct Youth
Support: The CAP facilitator is responsible for creating
supportive, inclusive, and welcoming spaces with every interaction
with BroSis youth members across programs. Specifically, this
includes: Advanced College Application Support: Working one-on-one
and in groups with seniors (during "Senior Thursdays Weekly") to
review applications, supplements, and personal statements, answer
questions, and provide encouragement. Workshop Facilitation
Support: Actively assisting in leading educational sessions on
creating college lists, understanding financial aid packages, and
financial aid appeals, ensuring all participants feel seen and
heard. Middle School Outreach: Supporting the distribution of high
school applications to eighth graders, serving as an encouraging
and helpful point of contact. Cultivating Space: Assisting with
supervision in the "college corner" during senior Thursdays and
intentionally cultivating a positive, energetic, and welcoming
"vibe" that makes youth feel comfortable and engaged. Event
Support: Providing direct support during senior trip days and
facilitating celebratory events (Alumni College Fair, Achievement
Club celebration, Senior Celebration for Application Submissions)
that recognize and celebrate youth achievements. Alumni Engagement:
Contacting alumni to gather information for care packages, an
activity centered on maintaining supportive community ties.
Administrative Support: To support the overall program and members,
this position will also include operations, research, and
logistical support for tasks that contribute to the overall success
of CAP. These include: Scholarship & School Research: Ongoing
research and identification of scholarship opportunities and
college/high school fair opportunities in the NYC area to provide
valuable resources to members. Database & Spreadsheet Management:
Managing contact lists, alumni data collection, and updating care
package lists (using Google Workspace, potentially Salesforce).
Communication & Material Gathering: Contacting schools to gather
promotional materials and information for members. Marketing &
Communications: Using Canva for flyer development to promote
programs and events clearly and attractively. General
Administrative Duties: Copying, filing, scanning, and sending
materials as needed Logistical Support: Supporting the packing and
shipping of care packages and overall event coordination.
EXPERIENCE & SKILL SET: 2 years of experience with direct youth
development Canva & flyer development Google Workspace (Forms,
Excel, etc.) Spreadsheet management Administrative support
(copying, filing, scanning, etc). Scholarship research Written and
verbal communication Database Management (Salesforce) is a plus
BENEFITS: This part-time hourly position is not eligible for
benefits.
