Description The Senior Claim Examiner is responsible for managing and adjusting claims while ensuring a high level of customer service and technical claim file quality for the Westchester Casualty team. Responsibilities: Provides outstanding customer service and works well with the insured, broker and TPA in the adjustment of mainstream casualty, specialty risks and business auto claims. Analyzes coverage and communicates coverage positions, as warranted, under direction of supervisor and coverage unit. Conducts, coordinates, and directs investigation into loss facts and extent of third-party damages. Directs and closely monitors assignments to experts and defense counsel. Evaluates information on coverage, liability, and damages to determine the extent of exposure to the insured and the company. Sets reserves within authority or makes claim recommendations concerning reserve changes to supervisor. Reports to reinsurers and facilitates the prompt collection of reinsurance on those matters where they are accountable. Travels to conferences, mediations, and trials as necessary. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4 year university is required. 0-2 years casualty claim handling or legal experience Ability to handle demanding caseload of claims and provide outstanding customer service. Ability to work independently and assimilate learning materials on many different subjects from various sources. Excellent interpersonal communications and negotiation skills. Capable of dealing with highly visible and demanding customers. Ability to work with TPAs and large accounts in a professional manner. Should have technical competence in the handling of casualty claims J.D. preferred but not required. The pay range for the role is $64,800 to $110,100. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
